A man was held at knifepoint while thugs on a motorbike stole his bicycle.

The victim had been cycling along Stadium Road (at the back of Croft business park), Bromborough, in the direction of Eastham Village, Wirral when he was stopped by two men on a motorbike.

The men then threatened the victim with a knife and stole his black and blue Cube Stereo 29er on Wednesday, January 5 at around 4.15pm.

The suspects were then reported to have made off on the motorbike towards the Birkenhead tunnel.

No injuries were reported and no weapon was seen.

CCTV and witness enquiries to locate the suspects are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.

Detective Inspector Phil Ryan said: "This was a disgraceful incident and we are working to find the persons responsible and remove them from our streets.

"If you were in the Bromborough area last Wednesday and witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious then please let us know.

"If you have seen the bike described for sale locally then please come forward and we will do the rest.

"Similarly if you were driving in the area and have dashcam footage, please review it and if you see anything, get in touch. Information you hold could be vital to our enquiries."
