Man has car stolen after transferring money to armed attackers at Dover Gardens

Police are searching for a group of men who assaulted a man and stole his car. (ABC News: Michael Clements)

An assault victim was forced to transfer money from his bank account by a group of knife-wielding thieves who then stole his car in Adelaide's south overnight, police have said.

SA Police said the 29-year-old victim was at a friend's house at Dover Gardens when he was threatened by four to six men who demanded his car keys about 1:30am.

The man was assaulted and suffered facial injuries during the incident.

Police said the man attempted to negotiate with his attackers by exchanging the car keys for money, "and was forced to transfer a sum of money into an account".

But the group proceeded to steal the man's car anyway — a black Holden VY Calais sedan, with registration S860 AEP.

Police said other suspects left in a grey sedan.

They have asked anyone with information about the suspects, described as being of African appearance, or the stolen car to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Officers attending the address to investigate the robbery arrested a 15-year-old boy over a warrant, and a 23-year-old Dover Gardens woman who allegedly tried to stop the arrest.

Meanwhile, police arrested a 33-year-old man and charged him with aggravated robbery following an armed hold-up at a Morphett Vale Hungry Jack's outlet overnight.

Police allege the man was armed with a knife when he entered the venue on the corner of Pimpala Road and Booth Avenue, demanded cash and then left.

"Witnesses were able to get a registration number for the getaway car to pass on to attending patrols," police said.

"Police attended the registered owner's address at Old Reynella and intercepted the suspect vehicle as it pulled into the driveway."
