Man found shot to death in Hoffman Estates

A man was found fatally shot Tuesday night in Hoffman Estates in the northwest suburbs.

Police released few details on the death, other than saying officers responded to a report of an “unknown problem” about 11:40 p.m. in the 200 block of West Berkley Lane and found the person dead at the scene.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled the 20-year-old man’s death a homicide. Autopsy results released Wednesday revealed he died from a gunshot wound to his face. His name has not been released.

“The Hoffman Estates Police Department continues to investigate the incident,” police said Wednesday in a statement that didn’t elaborate on the circumstances.

A police spokesman wasn’t able to provide additional information.
