A multi-agency rescue operation has been carried out after a man was found lying injured on a Scots beach.
Police officers arrived at the beach in East Wemyss, Fife after receiving a call around 10pm on Monday, July 5.
The Coastguard were also called to the search for the unidentified man shortly after and had a helicopter at the scene.
The RNLI's Kinghorn Lifeboat confirmed that they had also been part of the rescue operation on their Twitter.
A Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesperson said: The Coastguard Rescue Teams from Leven and Kinghorn, the Kinghorn RNLI lifeboat and the search and rescue helicopter from Prestwick recovered an injured person from the beach at East Weymms at around 10.20pm yesterday.
"The casualty was lifted from the beach by the crew of the helicopter and transferred to a waiting ambulance."
Paramedics took the man to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy via ambulance for treatment. His condition remains unknown.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10pm on Monday, 5 July, police were called to a report of a man lying injured on the beach in East Wemyss.
"Officers attended, along with the Coastguard and paramedics, and the man was taken by ambulance to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment."
