Injured man found lying in road on quiet street

A man was found in the middle of the road with injuries yesterday morning.

It has been confirmed that a man was found in the road with injuries after police attended Markham Drive in Southport yesterday. Officers attended the quiet residential road at around 6.30am yesterday following a concern for the welfare of a man.

He was then taken to hospital and has been confirmed his injuries are consistent with a fall. A Merseyside Police spokesperson told the ECHO: "We were called at 6.30am yesterday (Sunday) following concern for the welfare of a male found lying in the road on Markham Drive in Southport. The man was taken to hospital with injuries consistent with a fall."

One woman replied to a post in a local community Facebook group saying she found the man outside her house yesterday morning. Commenting on the post yesterday, she said: "We called an ambulance and the police came in two cars, didn’t realise they had left the car in the middle of the road though…"

She also updated those worried about the man, saying he was home and safe. She wrote: "Quick update… the young man is fine and at home now."
