Man found dead near Edinburgh football stadium as police launch probe

A MAN has been found dead near a football stadium in Edinburgh.

Emergency services rushed to Wheatfield Place on Sunday after receiving a report of a man lying unresponsive in the street.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, close to Tynecastle Park – home to Hearts.

A forensics tent has been erected and police officers are in attendance.

The police are treating the man's death as unexplained and have launched an investigation as enquiries are ongoing.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.30am on Sunday, we were made aware of a man found unresponsive on Wheatfield Place, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
