Man falls to his death from flat near Battersea Power Station

A man has died after falling from a flat in an apartment building near the river-facing entrance to Battersea Power Station.

The man fell “from a height” at Ambrose House on Circus Road West, in front of shoppers at the giant retail centre in south London, just before 1.30pm on Sunday.

He was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service but died.

Ambrose House sits above Black Sheep Coffee and boasts flats with floor to ceiling glass windows looking out at the power station and River Thames.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperaon said: “ Police were called at approximately 1.25pm on Sunday, 24 September to reports of a man injured after falling from a height in Circus Road West, SW11.

“London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance both attended – the man died at the scene. At this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious but enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an incident response officer, two medics in fast-response cars, and an ambulance crew. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a man at the scene, but very sadly, despite our teams’ best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Battersea Power Station opened to the public for the first time in October 2022 as a major shopping centre with a viewing platform, restaurants, bars and cafes.

As a power station, the Grade II listed building supplied a fifth of London’s electricity.
