Man due in court charged with assaulting Big Issue seller

A man has been charged to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court in December after allegedly assaulting a Big Issue seller outside the city’s train station.

The victim, who was said to be "shaken" by the incident, sought help from nearby East Midlands Railway staff when the alleged attack happened, and they were able to contact 61016, the British Transport Police, for assistance.

The seller was physically fine following the frightening episode, police said.

People are reminded to dial 999 in an emergency, or if you see anything suspicious, police can be contacted in confidence on the 101 non-emergency number.
