A man in his 30s has died following a workplace accident in Co Dublin early on Thursday morning.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident at a premises in Rathcoole at around 6.45am.
The man received medical treatment at the scene but he sadly passed away later.
His body was taken to the mortuary in Whitehall where a post-mortem examination will take place.
The scene of the incident, understood to be at a local quarry, is currently preserved.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) will conduct its own investigation of the scene.
A garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an incident in which a man (30s) was fatally injured at a premises in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin, this morning, Thursday, 28th October 2021.
"The incident occurred at approximately 6.45am. The man received treatment at the scene but later passed away.
"The body of the man has since been removed to the local Mortuary in Whitehall to allow for a post-mortem to take place.
"The scene is currently preserved and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) will conduct their own investigation of the scene.
"Investigations are ongoing."
A spokesperson for the HSA said they are aware of the incident and an investigation has been launched.
