A man has died in a early-morning horror car crash on the M1 motorway in Dublin.
The tragedy happened on the northbound section of the road near Balbriggan at around 5.30am this morning.
Two cars collided near Junction 6, with the driver of one of the cars receiving fatal injuries in the crash.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and brought to the city morgue where a post-mortem will be carried out.
The driver of the second vehicle was brought to hospital following the incident. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A garda spokeswoman said: "The services of Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested at the scene. The road remains closed at Junction 6 and diversions are in place.
"Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing to any road users who may have travelled on the M1 this morning between 5.00am and 5.30am and who may have camera (dash cam) footage to contact them.
