A man has died in Melbourne's north after an altercation and an alleged attempted car break-in.
Police allege the man was seen trying to break into a vehicle about 2.30pm on Wednesday when he was confronted by residents and a scuffle broke out.
Emergency services arrived and the man was arrested. He died at the scene while being treated by ambulance crews.
Two men are in custody and helping police with their inquiries.
