Man convicted of killing brother after stabbing him in leg during drunken row

A man has been convicted of killing his own brother after fatally stabbing him in the leg after a drunken argument.

Roy Garmson, 34, had been drinking with his sibling Joseph before stabbing him to death at their mother's home.

The brothers had been at their mum's address in Lutley Grove, Bartley Green, Birmingham, on September 14, when they became embroiled in an argument and it turned violent around 8.20pm.

Garmson, who had been staying at the property at the time then stabbed his 31-year-old brother with a kitchen knife.

Father-of-five Joseph was rushed to hospital but sadly died from a stab wound to his leg.

After fleeing the property Garmson returned at 11pm the same evening and was arrested on suspicion of murder.

The 34-year-old had denied murder but was convicted of manslaughter after a trial at Birmingham Crown Court yesterday.

He will now be sentenced on June 11.

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from the force's homicide unit, said: "This is a tragic case which has ripped apart a family.

"Joseph was a father and should have had many more years to look forward to, however, these were taken away by his own brother.

"Roy Garmson will not only rightly face a prison sentence, but have to live with the consequences of his actions for the rest of his life."
