Man City XI vs RB Leipzig: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Champions League today

Bernardo Silva starts tonight as he returns for Manchester City‘s clash with RB Leipzig in the Champions League, with John Stones on the bench.

Newcastle and Wolves both overcame the Premier League champions last week and now Pep Guardiola’s side face another away trip to reverse that trend.

Stones has not played since the Community Shield with a thigh problem, Silva has missed the last three games with a knock. The Portuguese star is straight back into the starting lineup, while Stones is among the substitutes.

Rodri is available as his three-match ban only applies for domestic football and unsurprisingly starts, with Rico Lewis alongside him in midfieod.

Elsewhere, Jeremy Doku and Julian Alvarez are on the bench, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish preferred along with Erling Haaland up top.

At the back, Josko Gvardiol gets the nod over Nathan Ake at left-back, as he goes up against his former club.

Starting XI: Ederson, Walker, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, Lewis, Rodri, Bernardo, Foden, Grealish, Haaland

Subs: Ortega Moreno, Carson, Phillips, Stones, Ake, Kovacic, Doku, Alvarez, Gomez, Nunes, Bobb

Time and date: 8pm, Wednesday, October 4, 2023

Venue: Red Bull Area
