Manchester City‘s home match against West Ham United which was postponed last weekend due to Storm Ciara has been rearranged for Wednesday 19 February, meaning both clubs will cut short their mid-season break.
The game was originally scheduled on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium but was called off several hours before kick-off due to strong winds and rain around the north-west of England.
The match will kick-off at 7.30pm GMT and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports at the same time as Tottenham’s Champions League tie with RB Leipzig will be televised by BT Sport.
Uefa’s regulations stipulate that any national league fixture rescheduled on a date reserved for European matches such as this one must finish at least 15 minutes before the Uefa game or games kick off, but the Premier League gained the approval of European football’s governing body before confirming the kick-off time.
“Top division matches, which had to be postponed due to force majeure or to other reasons beyond the reasonable control of the concerned EPFL Member League, may be rescheduled on dates reserved for Uefa club competition matches, upon agreement with Uefa, when it appears that no real alternative exists,” reads an agreement signed between Uefa and the European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL).
“If such matches are to be broadcast domestically and/or internationally, they shall be scheduled in such a way that they are terminated at least 15 minutes before the kick-off of the Uefa club competition matches, subject to Uefa’s approval on a case by case basis.”
West Ham have offered ticket refunds to those fans who cannot make the game, and free return coach travel for those who can.
