Man City told they must do something they haven't done all season to win Premier League title

Former Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given believes the Blues must string together a run of wins if they are to give themselves a chance of winning the Premier League.

City dropped back into second place and two points behind Arsenal on Saturday, their draw at Nottingham Forest killing momentum from Wednesday's win at the Emirates as Mikel Arteta's side beat Aston Villa. It has seen the Gunners quickly regain the title race advantage after the pendulum swung towards the Blues in midweek.

With Arsenal quickly regaining their composure and pulling three points from the hat late at Villa Park, City will likely have to replicate relentless runs from previous seasons, but having failed to string together more than three consecutive league victories this season, Given knows they will have to massively improve between now and May.

RATINGS: Haaland misfires as City drop points at Forest

"[I’m] Concerned, yeah, because Arsenal are in the driving seat," the former City shot-stopper told Premier League Productions. "If they win all their games, they’ll win the league and that's the bottom line. Pep said in his press conference that City haven’t actually gone on a run yet, they've won a game, lost a game, won a game, drawn a game.

"They won at Arsenal midweek but they haven't backed that up at Forest. They haven't gone on a really good run whereas Arsenal have done and if Man City don't do that before the end of the season, Arsenal could win the league."

Guardiola will have to bounce back quickly, with the first leg of City's Champions League last-16 tie at RB Leipzig on Wednesday before a trip to Bournemouth next weekend.
