Man City 'table improved offer' for Josko Gvardiol and other transfer rumours

RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol is being strongly linked with a move to Manchester City this summer.

Various media outlets are reporting of City's interest in the centre-back, who has told the German club he wishes to leave - according to SZ Sport. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano adds that personal terms have been agreed with the Croatia international, whom Leipzig are keen to sell as the most expensive centre-back ever.

City boss Pep Guardiola is said to rate Gvardiol 'highly' - with Sky Germany reporting that the two clubs have been discussing a transfer fee for the player in recent days. It's claimed that the 2022/23 treble-winners have made an 'improved offer' for Gvardiol, who has a whopping £98million release clause in his contract set to become active in 2024. Last season, he made 30 appearances in the Bundesliga.

Elsewhere, journalist Alan Nixon is reporting of interest in two City youngsters. One of those is James Trafford - who shone on loan for Bolton Wanderers last season and is currently playing for England Under-21s in the European Championships. The goalkeeper is reportedly attracting interest from Burnley, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough.

City could sanction a sale of £6million plus add-ons, instead of loaning Trafford out again - according to the report. Additionally, Championship side Southampton are said to want Kian Breckin on loan, as they look to bounce back after relegation. The availability of the teenager, who plays in midfielder, has apparently alerted Blackburn Rovers too.
