Man City striker Sergio Aguero broke Wayne Rooney Premier League record vs Everton

Sergio Aguero served up the fitting Etihad Stadium finale his Manchester City legacy deserves after breaking another goalscoring record.

The 32-year-old is preparing for his final days with the club - after a hugely successful decade which has seen him win five Premier League titles, in addition to claiming several other domestic honours.

Aguero, who arrived from newly-crowned Spanish champions Atletico Madrid close to 10 years ago now, is the club's record scorer across all competitions.

Due to injury setbacks, the departing Argentine striker was not awarded a starting place ahead of kick-off against Everton this afternoon.

However, even that was not enough to prevent him from conjuring a couple of moments of magic.

Aguero was summoned from the bench by manager Pep Guardiola to score twice during a 5-0 final day demolition job - with those two strikes seeing him pass Wayne Rooney's record of most Premier League goals for a single club.

Underlining his goalscoring instincts twice in the space of five second-half minutes, the departing frontman netted his 183rd and 184th goals for City.

That means he sits one clear of the 183 that former England captain Rooney totted up at Old Trafford.

In terms of his overall standing in the Premier League, Aguero remains fourth behind Alan Shearer (260), that same man Rooney (208) and another former United striker in Andy Cole (187).

Had injury set-backs not hampered Aguero over the last 18 months or so, the Argentine might well have edged out Cole on the podium, too.

City now turn their attentions to a first ever Champions League final against Chelsea next Saturday night. What are the odds of Aguero making another parting statement there?
