Man City star set to end six-year stay as he closes in on move abroad

  • Manchester City defender Nathan Ake is on the verge of a move to Turkish club Fenerbahce, in a deal initially valued at £7 million which could rise to £8.5 million with add-ons.
  • Fenerbahce prematurely announced on Friday that they had reached an agreement and signed a contract with Ake, a disclosure that reportedly caught Manchester City off guard as the transfer is not yet fully complete.
  • The impending transfer would bring an end to Ake's six-year tenure at the Etihad Stadium, where he amassed an impressive trophy haul including four Premier League titles and the Champions League.
  • Despite team success, the 31-year-old Netherlands international struggled for consistent playing time in his final season, making only six starts in his 18 Premier League appearances.
  • Fenerbahce, who finished as Turkish Super Lig runners-up last season, made Ake a key transfer target under new president Aziz Yildirim, hoping his experience will bolster their squad for domestic and European ambitions.
