Man City slap 'huge price tag' on Bernardo Silva amid Barcelona interest and more transfer rumours

Manchester City have reportedly slapped a huge price tag on Bernardo Silva as they try and ward off interest from Barcelona.

Despite facing a precarious financial situation at the Nou Camp, the Catalan giants are being linked with a number of players this summer. It’s likely, though, that they will have to offload some of their current squad before signing anyone themselves.

Frenkie de Jong is among those linked with a move away, with Manchester United weighing up a move for the midfielder, while City have also been touted as a possible destination by some reports. That would leave Barca looking for a replacement, and reports in Spain suggest they’re eyeing up Silva.

Xavi is said to be an admirer of the Portugal international as a proven ball-player in midfield. But City don’t appear to be in any mood to entertain offers for one of their prize assets.

Marca claim City are looking for a figure of around €100million in order for them to be willing to part ways with the 27-year-old. That would likely price Barca out of a move, especially as they pursue other targets, with the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha also linked.

Elsewhere, Gavin Bazunu is being touted for a permanent move to Southampton. The young goalkeeper has impressed in his time on loan with Rochdale and Portsmouth over the past couple of years, but his next move could see him leave the Etihad for good.

Southampton are on the lookout for a new keeper after Fraser Forster left the club in order to join Tottenham. According to The Athletic, they’re now ‘on the verge’ of tying up a deal for Bazunu.

The deal for the Republic of Ireland international is said to exceed £10million with potential add-ons. Everton have also been linked with a move for the goalkeeper, who is yet to make a senior appearance for City.
