Man City's Eric Garcia trolls Manchester United with Gerard Pique comparison

Eric Garcia has taken aim at Manchester United with a tongue-in-cheek jibe after comparisons with Gerard Pique.

The 20-year-old Spanish defender and his Manchester City teammates are preparing for the club's first ever Champions League final at the Dragao Stadium, in Porto, tonight (8pm).

Having been limited to a bit-part role this season, the Barcelona-bound prospect is unlikely to feature against Chelsea.

However, as he bids to say farewell to life in Manchester, Garcia has issued a parting shot to supporters on the red side of the city's footballing divide.

La Masia to Manchester and back to the Nou Camp is a path previously trodden by Gerard Pique, and that similarity was mentioned to him in a new interview ahead of his return to Catalonia.

Speaking to Spanish publication L'Esportiu, Garcia said: "Gerard has achieved everything, he is one of the best centre-backs in the world. He is more recognised, while I am 20 years old and I am starting my career.

"So the only possible comparison is that we are both from La Masia and we lived in Manchester, but he was in a team that wasn't so good. I've had more luck and I've been able to play for the best team in Manchester and it's a shame for him."

Pique returned to Barcelona in 2008, after Sir Alex Ferguson's United side had just clinched a Premier League and Champions League double.
