Man City right-back linked with Real Madrid as Pep Guardiola 'monitors West Ham wonderkid'

Welcome to the latest edition of the City Is Ours news round-up, your daily dose of Manchester City stories that you might have missed.

City did superbly to beat title rivals Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday afternoon, and pundits have had their say on who their top performers were at Stamford Bridge .

Elsewhere, the transfer window may have closed, but that doesn't mean there's any shortage of transfer gossip, with incomings and outgoings rumoured to be on the cards...

Pundits react to win over Chelsea

In what was an important game for both sides at Stamford Bridge, City took all three points against Thomas Tuchel's men thanks to Gabriel Jesus' goal.

Pep Guardiola has been praised for his tactics as he secured revenge for City's loss against Chelsea in last season's Champions League final, though the players are rightly getting the credit they deserve.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has praised the team's work ethic, writing in his Daily Mail column: "This wasn’t City just being intricate and technically brilliant, it was City being at their very best out of possession.

"The intensity of the press was astonishing and while Chelsea weren’t at their best, they weren’t allowed to be against a team who refused to let them play out.

"City have a group of talented superstars, we know that, but they work tirelessly to win the ball back, again and again. That gave them the platform to dominate and create chances to have won by more."

Former City striker Rodney Marsh was quick to single out the performance of Ruben Dias, but Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer thought a certain midfielder was worthy of praise: “Rodri I thought was immense in giving the protection when it was needed.”

Every player played their part in what was a vital win for Guardiola and City as they look to defend their Premier League title.

Real Madrid chase City right-back

Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker offer City plenty of options down the right-hand side, however, with the latter now in his early 30s, City may soon be on the hunt for a replacement.

They might not need to look too far given talented right-back Pedro Porro is still on their books, and he's currently impressing while away on loan at Sporting Lisbon having recently made his debut for the Spanish national team.

However, according to a report by Fichajes, Real Madrid are interested in the youngster.

If Porro continues to impress, interest in the right-back will no doubt continue to grow, but it may be that Guardiola sees him as the long-term successor to Walker.

City interested in West Ham starlet

According to Football Insider, City have been monitoring the progress of 16-year-old West Ham United forward Divin Mubama.

Mubama has impressed as part of the club's U18 squad, scoring 10 goals in 22 games during the 2020/21 season. He's also scored for both the U15s and U16s with England.

City will face competition for the signature of the youngster, while West Ham are keen to retain his services.

Guardiola seems eager to concentrate on developing youth at City this season having named a number of teenagers on the bench of late, and the signing of Mubama would only strengthen that stance.
