Man City player ratings vs Liverpool as Jack Grealish and Julian Alvarez outstanding

Ederson

Started nervously with a kick that was charged down by Gakpo but had very little to do after that. Powerless to stop Salah's brilliant finish for the goal. 6

Akanji

One of his tougher afternoons in a City shirt. Left far too big a gap for Jota to exploit for Liverpool's goal and was caught out a couple of times in the first half. 6

Dias

Probably also slightly culpable for the goal, but a lot better as the game wore on and had little issue with any of the forwards Liverpool could turn to. 7

Ake

Found it tougher against Salah here than in the Carabao Cup tie at Christmas, but stayed tight in the first half and controlled him well after the break. 7

Stones

Looks more at home in his midfield role by the week. Happy to take the ball under pressure and often found good combinations with Rodri. 7

Rodri

A tactical foul that avoided a second yellow in the first half which was worthy of Fernandinho. Passing was excellent, regularly breaking lines and finding Alvarez or Grealish. 8

Gundogan

Took his goal well and seemed to find that little pocket of space in the area a few times. Should have been further up the pitch to press in the lead-up to Liverpool's goal. 7

De Bruyne

Great movement and run for his goal, which came after a first half in which he hadn't made the most of his space. Ran the show at times after the break. 8

Mahrez

Run into space and the first-time pass for De Bruyne's goal was very good. Will probably feel he should have got on the scoresheet himself. 7

Grealish

A red letter day against the Reds. Has been getting better and better this season but this was a magnificent performance. Set up the goal for Alvarez, tormented Alexander-Arnold and deserved his goal. 9

Alvarez

Earned applause from Guardiola for sprinting back to stop a counter at 0-0. Good movement to score his goal and great awareness to open Liverpool up for De Bruyne goal. 8

Subs

Bernardo

Little time to make an impact. 6

Palmer

No time to mark. N/A
