Man City player ratings vs Arsenal as Ake and Ortega excellent

Ortega: Two excellent saves in the first half, even if he then got in a bad mix-up with Stones. 8

Lewis: A tough night up against the tricky Trossard, and often found too far from Mahrez on the wing. 5

Stones: Another who was given far too much trouble by Trossard, and a hamstring injury never sounds good. 5

Akanji: Some iffy moments coupled with some important interceptions. 7

Ake: Outstanding to keep Saka quiet and the goal was lovely as well. 9

Rodri: Far too many misplaced passes and was made to look off the pace by Arsenal. 5

De Bruyne: Good intent to try and set Haaland free, although the accuracy was too often lacking. 6

Gundogan: Some lovely turns to create space up the pitch and helped City find their tempo. 7

Mahrez: An unusually quiet night. Made some decent runs but either not found by teammates or couldn't do anything with it. 5

Grealish: Grew into the game and picked up an important assist. 7

Haaland: A bit of a thankless task to knock balls back for his teammates all night, and then usually fail to get it given back. 6

Substitutes

Laporte (for Stones, 45) Made an important block to stop Saka that more than made up for any loose play. 7

Alvarez (for Mahrez, 58) Makes things happen. Offers City a different approach. 8

Walker (for Lewis, 58) Did everything asked of him tactically. 7

Bernardo (for De Bruyne, 75) Some nice touches. 6

Not used: Ederson, Dias, Phillips, Cancelo, Palmer
