Man City plans to watch Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal ahead of possible Premier League title crowning

Manchester City's squad and staff have no plans to watch Arsenal's must-win fixture at Nottingham Forest on Saturday - even though it could potentially confirm the Blues as Premier League champions.

City will be crowned champions for the third successive year if they beat Chelsea on Sunday, but they could go into that game already confirmed as Premier League winners should Arsenal slip up again at Forest. A draw for Forest would mean City need to match that result on Sunday to get over the line, but a Forest win would leave Arsenal four points behind with just one game left to play.

So with City potentially being confirmed as champions on Saturday evening, Pep Guardiola was asked whether there were any plans to watch the game as a squad the night before their clash with Chelsea.

"I don't think so. They will do breakfast maybe. We have a game day after. Chelsea deserve it," Guardiola said, adding that he would prefer to win the league by beating Chelsea.

"In my mind, I'd like to feel we have to win to be champions. This is what we have to think. We cannot control Nottingham. Doesn't matter what happens in Nottingham, we have to do our job. Win our game.

"I don’t have it [champagne in the fridge]. After three days later we have Brighton. They can make a big thing if you're not yourself. We have time at the end of the season to celebrate. We have a lot of games in a row. That’s why if we can win tomorrow and celebrate in the stadium with our people that will be the best celebration. To celebrate as a team, we don't have time just in case we do it [the treble]."
