Man City: Pep Lijnders reveals Jeremy Doku and Ruben Dias injury latest before Tottenham showdown

Pep Lijnders has confirmed that Jeremy Doku will miss Manchester City's Premier League clash against Tottenham this weekend.

Man City make the trip to the capital on Sunday hoping record a third straight win across all competitions, after beating Wolves and Galatasaray over the past week by the same 2-0 scoreline.

Those victories have seen City close the gap on Arsenal in the Premier League table as well as qualifying directly for the Champions League last-16.

Though, having lost to Spurs in the reverse fixture back in August, Man City will be out to gain a measure of revenge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, hopes of doing so have been hit as Doku has been ruled out.

The Belgian winger started against Galatasaray on Wednesday night, but lasted just 37 minutes before being withdrawn with a calf injury.

Pep Guardiola did reveal that he expected Doku to miss out against Spurs and in his absence from Friday’s pre-match press conference, assistant Lijnders confirmed the blow.

"It's a similar injury as last one, only at that time it was on the outside - on the lateral side - now it's in the centre,” Lijnders explained.

"Last time it took 18 days, I presume this one will be a little bit shorter.

"But it's in the middle, so we have to take time and we will see.

"Jeremy is a very robust player, so let's see."

In addition to Doku, Man City are set to be without John Stones, Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic and Savinho for the game in north London.

Ruben Dias is set to return to team training on Monday ahead of the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Newcastle and Liverpool fixture next weekend.

Rodri is available after serving a European suspension, while Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi can play after being ineligible for City’s final league phase fixture.
