Man City make Cristiano Ronaldo decision after Harry Kane's Tottenham transfer admission

Harry Kane’s Manchester City transfer saga is over – for now at least – after the striker admitted he will be staying at Tottenham for the rest of this season.

Tottenham’s star man looked like he mat leave the club before the August 31 deadline, but time is now up for City, who failed to wrap up a deal with Daniel Levy.

Taking to social media on Wednesday afternoon, Kane provided an update on his future and confirmed the news that all Spurs fans had been hoping for.

"It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I've had in the last few weeks," he explained.

"I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success. #COYS."

Pep Guardiola is desperate to add a striker to his squad after losing Sergio Aguero to Barcelona on a free transfer at the beginning of the current window, and now that he’s missed out on a move for Kane, City are reportedly considering a shock move for Cristiano Ronaldo.

As per Gianluca di Marzio, the Manchester-based club are monitoring Ronaldo’s situation at Juventus instead. The Portuguese superstar’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is flirting with the club over a possible transfer.

Di Marzio’s report adds that Paris Saint-Germain are not in the running for Ronaldo, regardless of whether Kylian Mbappe stays at the club or leaves for Real Madrid.

That makes City the other possible option as they’re the only leading European club other than PSG capable of taking on his wages.

Understandably, given Ronaldo’s affiliations with Manchester United, any deal with City looks unlikely. However, it certainly puts pressure on Levy to sell Kane.

Spurs were reluctant to let the England captain go, and after sticking to their values, they’ve kept hold of their main man.

On the other hand, with just six days remaining in the window, City have little time to get in the striker Guardiola feels he needs to defend their Premier League title this season.
