Man City evening headlines as Blues receive Champions League update

City set to cash in on potential United transfer deals

City could be set for a financial boost from Manchester United’s transfer business this summer.

Two former youngsters are on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar, with City due a portion of any transfer fee.

Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho is one of them, with the Bundesliga club said to be holding out for a fee more than £100m. However, a 15 per cent sell on clause from his original £8m transfer from City’s academy in 2017 would see the Etihad club cash in on any deal for the player.

The MEN reported this week that United are looking at Schalke winger Rabbi Matondo as a cheaper alternative to Sancho. The Schalke winger also left City as younger with Pep Guardiola’s side due 10 per cent from the Welsh youngster’s next move.

City given Champions League update

UEFA are optimistic about completing this season’s European competitions behind closed doors, according to president Aleksander Ceferin.

City lead Real Madrid 2-1 following a stunning win at the Bernabeu in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie but the suspension of football meant completion of the competition this year was uncertain.

However, speaking to beIN SPORTS Ceferin revealed UEFA has plans in place to finish both the Champions League and Europa League this season.

“We have a concrete plan of finishing the European season,” he admitted. “Of course, this summer we will have to play without spectators at the stadiums.”

Juventus manager identifies City hitman as ‘favourite’ to fill striker role

Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri is reportedly keen on signing Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazlian striker’s contract is due to expire in 2021 and according to Tuttosport, via SportWitness , the Italians have made him their ‘favourite’ as a new striker option.

However, the club believe it will be an uphill task to entice the player due to his wages at the Etihad.

The report also states that Juve hope City’s potential Champions League ban might work in their favour as certain players may want to leave.
