Man City drop Erling Haaland and Rodri fitness hints as stars pictured training ahead of Bournemouth clash

Manchester City have dropped a hint on Erling Haaland and Rodri’s fitness as the pair were pictured training with their team-mates ahead of this weekend’s clash with Bournemouth.

The Norwegian and Spanaird had sat out the League Cup victory over Swansea City in midweek, with Pep Guardiola confirming that Haaland had suffered “a knock”, while Rodri was continuing his recovery from another muscular setback.

Omar Marmoush started up top instead of Haaland in south Wales, where City fell behind to the Championship side in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

Gonaclo Franco opened the scoring for the hosts, but Jeremy Doku equalised on 39 minutes for the Premier League outfit.

Marmoush turned the tie around on 77 minutes, before Rayan Cherki sealed the deal in the third minute of stoppage time, cementing City’s place in the last eight.

Guardiola rotated his starting lineup heavily, with wonderkid Divine Mukasa starting in midfield alongside Nico Gonzalez, while Rayan Ait-Nouri continued his comeback from injury.

Haaland was omitted from the squad completely, but City seem to have allayed fears about his fitness by picturing him in training on Thursday.

The same can be said with Rodri, although the City boss was a tad more cautious with his verdict on the midfielder’s availability for the weekend when he spoke after the Swansea win.

“Rodri is still not [ready],” Guardiola said.

“So, he is getting better, training with us partial. But, of course, after what happened two times with the muscular injuries, we are going to see how he is this week.”
