Man City and Liverpool remaining fixtures compared in tense Premier League title race

Manchester City and Liverpool have ticked off their latest respective challenges in the Premier League this weekend after Pep Guardiola's side overcame Watford and Liverpool beat Everton the following day.

Gabriel Jesus inspired City's result at the Etihad Stadium with four goals in a 5-1 win, while Liverpool returned the favour on Sunday as they claimed the Merseyside bragging rights with a win over their neighbours. With just five matches left to play, things are getting tense. But how do City's remaining fixtures compare to Liverpool's?

Man City - remaining fixtures

Saturday, April 30 - Leeds United (A)

Sunday, May 8 - Newcastle United (H)

Sunday, May 15 - West Ham (A)

Sunday, May 22 - Aston Villa (H)

TBC: Wolves (A)

Liverpool - remaining fixtures

Saturday, April 30 - Newcastle United (A)

Saturday, May 7 - Tottenham (H)

Tuesday, May 10 - Aston Villa (A)

Sunday, May 22 - Wolves (H)

TBC: Southampton (A)

The verdict: As this enthralling title race draws to a conclusion, three sides could have a particularly big impact on where the trophy ends up on Sunday, May 22. Between now and the end of the season, City and Liverpool both have to play Aston Villa, Wolves and Newcastle.

Such is their ability, there is a widespread belief that City and Liverpool might claim maximum points from their remaining fixtures. However, with such a huge prize on the radar, mounting pressure must be factored in.

Perhaps the most significant moments will come during games against teams with something left to play for - namely West Ham for City and Tottenham for Liverpool - with City giving up home advantage in their seemingly most difficult match-up.
