Man City ace Jack Grealish reveals brilliant reason why he went to New York after the World Cup

Manchester City star Jack Grealish's love of the Christmas film Home Alone 2 saw him jet off to New York City - the setting of the film - after the World Cup.

The classic 90s film sees Macaulay Culkin play Kevin McCallister, who accidentally boards a plane to New York instead of to Miami with the rest of his family. It turns out that Grealish is a huge fan of the film and has explained on Instagram what it means to him to be in New York during the countdown to the big day.

On his Instagram, City's winger wrote: "If you know me, you know how much I love Christmas and Home Alone so absolutely buzzing I could come to New York at Christmas time and basically just see everywhere Kevin went." Grealish has made the most of his trip across the pond, visiting the Plaza Hotel which features in the film, as well as Central Park and the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.

While he may be having a good time in New York, Grealish would have likely preferred to have been in Qatar for the World Cup final with England this weekend. However, the Three Lions were knocked out of the tournament last week thanks to a 2-1 loss against France.

On a personal level, the World Cup was a monumental one for Grealish, who scored his first-ever goal at the finals during the Three Lions' 6-2 victory over Iran. Pep Guardiola revealed on Saturday that Grealish and the rest of the England players will be back in Manchester at some stage next week along with their Portuguese counterparts.

Upon his return, Grealish will be thrust into a busy festive schedule which includes matches against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup and Premier League encounters with Leeds United and Everton before 2022 comes to its conclusion.
