A man has been charged with sexually assaulting an elderly woman at her home.
The man allegedly offered to help carry the 84-year-old's shopping to her place at Merrylands in Sydney's west on Tuesday before attacking her.
The woman was taken to hospital for assessment, and the NSW Police sex crimes squad began investigating.
Police made a public appeal for information on Wednesday and on Friday police arrested a 41-year-old man at a unit in Fairfield.
He was charged with sexual intercourse without consent and common assault, and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.
