Man charged with murder of Mildura council staff member

A man has been charged with murdering a woman who was found shot dead at a house in north-west Victoria at the weekend.

Police said Karen Belej, 31, was found with a gunshot wound to her head inside a home in Montana Avenue, Cardross, on Sunday.

Ms Belej worked at Mildura Rural City Council.

Police said the 36-year-old Cardross man had been charged with one count of murder.

He will face and out of sessions court hearing at Mildura Police Station tonight.
