A man has been charged with murder more than a year after a schoolboy was shot dead at a warm-up event for Notting Hill Carnival.
Rene Graham, 15, was gunned down in front of hundreds of partygoers at Emslie Horniman's Pleasance Park in Ladbroke Grove in 2024.
Police and emergency services rushed to the scene but were sadly unable to save Rene who died in the park at around 7.20pm on July 21.
A second man was also shot at but escaped with his life.
Now, Abderahman Boumzough, 25, has been charged with murder and attempted murder.
He is due to appear at Highbury Magistrates' Court today, the Metropolitan Police said.
Rene’s grieving mother Janay John-Francois previously said her son’s death had “broken, shattered my life”, describing him as a “vibrant” teenager with the “biggest heart”.
At the time of the attack, it is believed more than a thousand people were attending the annual Park Lime event, organised by the Caribbean Music Association, which was billed as a "family fun day" featuring live music, games and face painting.
Boumzough was arrested on Tuesday before being charged.
Rene’s family have been informed and continue to be supported by specialist officers, police added.
