A 41-year-old has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead in a south London flat.

Kristian Smith, of no fixed abode, was charged on Thursday in connection with 52-year-old Antoinette Donnegan’s death.

The 41-year-old was also charged with fraud and preventing a lawful burial, police said.

Ms Donnegan was found earlier this month on March 7 after police were called “to carry out a welfare check” on Este Road, Wandsworth.

In a statement, Scotland Yard said: “Officers gained entry and found the body of a deceased woman that they now know to be 52-year-old Antoinette Donnegan.

“Next of kin have been informed.

“A post-mortem examination held on Saturday, 10 March was inconclusive and a second examination will be scheduled in due course.”

Smith will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates Court on Friday.

DCI Massey, who is investigating Ms Donnegan’s death, said: “We are keen to speak with anyone who may have been in contact with Antoinette in mid to late January this year or visited her at her home address during this time.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Incident Room on 020 8721 4868, Tweet @MetCC or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
