Man extradited and charged with stabbing murder of 32yo man in Boggabilla in north-west NSW

A man has been charged with murder after another man was allegedly fatally stabbed in Boggabilla.

Police said a 32-year-old man was stabbed on Brown Street late on Friday night, and died in Goondiwindi Hospital a short time later.

Officers arrested Ricky Doolan across the Queensland border in Goondiwindi the next day and set up Strike Force Bruntnell to investigate the incident.

Detectives successfully applied for the 31-year-old's extradition to New South Wales at Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Monday.

He was taken to Moree Police Station and charged with murder.

He was refused bail, and will appear in Moree Local Court today.

A GoFundMe page set up by the dead man's family a day ago has raised more than $10,000 for his funeral.

"[This] has left a hole in our family's hearts that will never mend," a family member wrote.

The ABC has contacted the dead man's family who did not give permission for his name or image to be published at this stage due to cultural sensitivities.
