Man charged with intimidating NSW minister

A man has been arrested and charged with intimidation after allegedly verbally abusing a NSW government minister on Friday.

The 35-year-old man allegedly approached Police Minister David Elliott on the street at Baulkham Hills on Friday afternoon, questioning him and filming him on his phone.

Police say the man continued to verbally abuse and intimidate Mr Elliott as he followed the minister into a shopping centre.

A 47-year-old man who attempted to intervene was also verbally abused, according to NSW Police.

Police were called and they arrested the man at a unit in Baulkham Hills two hours later.

He faces two intimidation charges and a third charge for failure to comply with a COVID-19 direction.

He has been granted bail. He will appear at Parramatta Local Court on August 31.
