Man charged with attempted murder after Boxing Day knife attack

A 22-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a Boxing Day knife attack left a man with a serious stab wound.

Police said a 38-year-old man was attacked on the evening of December 26 inside a flat on South Road, Waterloo.

The victim was rushed to hospital but has since been released and is now recovering at home.

Details of where the victim suffered stab wounds have not been released.

Michael Lewry, of Abbott Drive, Bootle has been charged with attempted murder, police announced on Friday.

Lewry was remanded in custody and will appear at Wirral Remand Court today.
