A man has been charged and is set to appear in court over the serious assault on mum Nadine Lott in Co Wicklow.
Ms Lott, who is in her 30s, was severely beaten at her residence in Arklow at around 4.25am on Saturday.
She also suffered a number of stab wounds and was brought to St Vincent’s Hospital with serious injuries.
It is understood that while she remained in a critical condition, her vital signs had slightly improved last night.
Gardai have charged a man in his 30s in relation with the incident.
The man is due to appear before Bray District Court this afternoon.
Officers want any road users who may have camera footage who were travelling in the Arklow area between 4am and 5am to contact gardai immediately.
