Man charged with arson after Edmonton police station smash

A man has been charged after a car crashed into a north London police station and part of the road outside was set on fire.

Officers were evacuated from Edmonton Police Station and nearby residents were told to leave their homes following the incident on Wednesday night.

Adam Pawlowski, 45, was charged with attempted arson with intent to endanger life and criminal damage on Thursday evening.

He will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Friday.

No-one was injured in the collision or blaze on Fore Street at around 7pm and police said it was not being treated as terror-related.

Detective Chief Superintendent Treena Fleming said earlier on Thursday: "I would like to thank the local community for their patience and co-operation while officers dealt with this incident and the resulting scene.

"My thanks and admiration go to the brave officers who responded to this incident without hesitation in order to keep the public safe, and also to the members of the public who assisted in detaining the suspect without fear for their own safety."
