No bail over elderly NSW woman's kidnap

A NSW man will remain behind bars for at least the next eight weeks after allegedly kidnapping an elderly woman in the Snowy Mountains region and throwing her down a four-metre embankment.

Roger Phillip McGrath on Tuesday afternoon allegedly fought with the 75-year-old at Talbingo before dragging her to his car, driving her towards Talbingo mountain and tipping her down an embankment.

She fell four metres, suffering facial bruising and cuts to her arms and legs.

The 54-year-old McGrath was arrested on Thursday at a Talbingo home and charged with kidnapping, assault, property and road offences.

He was hiding under the bed when he was arrested, police say.

McGrath was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Friday, where he was again refused bail by magistrate Miranda Moody.

He'll return to the same court on April 7.
