Man charged after Scots teen girl allegedly assaulted by home intruder

Police have arrested and charged a man after a teen was allegedly assaulted in her home in Helensburgh.

The 19-year-old woman was rushed to the Royal Alexandria Hospital in Paisley following the alleged attack at a flat on Hood Court at 1am on Wednesday, July 5.

Cops confirmed they were looking for a male, around 6ft tall, with a heavy build and a short beard, who was wearing an orange high-vis jacket.

The force confirmed today that a 35-year-old man had been arrested and charged. He will appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court in due course.

The male is alleged to have entered the property through an unlocked door before allegedly attacking the 19-year-old.

She was transferred to hospital by paramedics after suffering alleged injuries to her wrist and head.

Cops said the woman was "very shaken" following the alleged incident and appealed to the public to check CCTV footage.
