Man charged after cocaine and MDMA worth over €600K seized in Co Kildare

A man has been arrested and charged after gardai seized a massive haul of drugs worth over €600K in Co Kildare.

Officers made the bust after searching a house in Louisa Park in Leixlip on Saturday, August 1, as part of an intelligence-led operation undertaken by the Leixlip Drugs Unit targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Kildare, Laois and Offaly divisions.

A large amount of suspected MDMA worth approximately €520,000 (pending analysis) was discovered at the property and a man was later arrested at the scene.

A follow-up search of his vehicle uncovered suspected cocaine worth approximately €80,000 (pending analysis).

Drugs seized by Gardai (An Garda Siochana)

A number of follow-up searches were carried out in Kildare and Dublin on Sunday, 2nd August, 2020, but no items were seized and no arrests were made.

A garda spokesperson said: "The arrested male, aged in his early 30s, was detained at Leixlip Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

"He has since been charged and will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, Dublin, at 4pm this afternoon, Monday, 3rd August, 2020.

"Investigations are ongoing."
