Man charged after alleged attack and robbery of vulnerable Scot yards from home

A man has been arrested and charged following the alleged mugging of a vulnerable Scots man.

The 31-year-old is expected to appear in Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court tomorrow after the robbery on the town's Fair Isle Road area on Friday night.

Paul Smith, 53 who has learning difficulties, was allegedly attacked and had his wallet stolen when walking home from his local shop.

The creamery worker was said to have been hit and robbed just yards from his home and suffered brutal facial injuries.

A police statement issued this morning reads: "A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a robbery in Kirkcaldy.

"The incident happened around 9.15pm on Friday, 23 October, in the Fair Isle Road and Lismore Lane area.

"A 53-year-old man suffered facial injuries and reported having his wallet stolen.

"The 31-year-old will appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court tomorrow."
