A 36-YEAR-OLD man has been charged after a teenage girl was raped in a Glasgow park.
The 16-year-old girl was attacked in the evening of Friday, June 26 as she walked near the Moongate in the north-east side of Springburn Park between 8.30pm and 9.15pm.
Police said a man approached her and pushed her into the bushes before carrying out the sex attack.
Police Scotland launched a manhunt for the suspect, and confirmed on Saturday that a 36-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the serious sexual assault.
The man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious sexual assault at Springburn Park in Glasgow.
"A 16-year-old girl was assaulted in the park between 8.30pm and 9.15pm on Friday, 26 June, 2026.
"The man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, July 6, 2026."
Det Insp Sharon McPeake said it was a "concerning incident" and thanked the public for helping with the investigation.
She added: "We are continuing to engage with the local community and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to one of our officers."
