A Brisbane man has been charged after allegedly striking his neighbour with a running chainsaw during a fight about noise from a house party.

Police say the fight started between two men, aged 36 and 24, over the noise from the earlier party on Koda St, Burpengary East, about 1am on Sunday.

The older man allegedly punched the other man in the head and bit his arm, leg and stomach.

He then went back to his house, kicking down the younger man's mailbox on the way.

The 36-year-old returned with a switched-on electric chainsaw to where the 24-year-old was standing with a 51-year-old man.

He allegedly struck the oldest man across the torso and upper arm with it.

The 51-year-old was rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 36-year-old has been charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and wilful damage.

He was due to appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Monday.
