Man 'assaulted' officer before making off in dinghy after pursuit on the Clyde

A man allegedly assaulted a police officer before making off in a dinghy following a police pursuit on the River Clyde. 

Officers say they received calls reporting concern for a man in Greenock at around 2.05am on Sunday, August 3. 

(Image: Images by George Munro) Officers attended and carried out searches before tracing the man, 31, in the East India Harbour area.

(Image: Images by George Munro) (Image: Images by George Munro) While in the harbour an alleged disturbance took place where an officer was assaulted, and the man made off in a dinghy.

The officer received treatment at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and has since been discharged.

(Image: Images by George Munro) The man was subsequently arrested from a dinghy at Rhu Marina near Helensburgh.
