A man has been arrested by police after allegedly being found in possession of a ‘bladed article’ during a COP26 protest.
Officers apprehended the 42-year-old man as hundreds of climate change activists gathered in Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park on Monday night.
Several world leaders - including US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Boris Johnson - had gathered a special VIP dinner at the nearby museum.
A ring of steel was thrown up around the event with protestors moving the location of their rally to the park just minutes before it was due to start.
Dozens of officers lined Argyle Street as they cleared the road to make way for the arrival of the dinner guests - including members of the Royal Family.
Police Scotland confirmed the incident took place and said a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
A force spokesperson said: “A 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with possession of a bladed article within Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow around 6pm on Monday, 1 November.
“A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal."
