Man arrested in connection with alleged incident in Glasgow

A MAN has been arrested in connection with an incident in Petershill Road in Glasgow yesterday.

We previously reported that emergency services locked down an area of the North Glasgow street following reports of a 'suspect' device at around 10.05am.

Residents were evacuated from the premises as the specialist bomb squad, known officially as the EOD Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, arrrived on the scene.

Now, the Glasgow Times has confirmed that a 50-year-old has been arrested in connection with the scare.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Enquiries are continuing following the removal of a suspect item within a flat in Petershill Road, Springburn, Glasgow by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal on Monday, April 17.

"A 50-year-old-man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

"A cordon remains and there are still partial road closures on Petershill Road, Red Road, Oatfield Street and Dykemuir Street with diversions in place.

"Residents are being supported by the local authority."
