Quickly after this, a Missing Persons investigation was launched.

The probe was then taken over by Gardaí in Baltinglass following the discovery of his remains.

Paul 'Frank' Byrne was found by a forestry worker felling trees in a remote area in Blessington, County Wicklow on July 29, 2010.

His body was then identified by way of DNA profiling.

A man was arrested this morning, Monday, January 30, 2023, in the Dublin area, according to gardai.

He was taken to Baltinglass Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, as amended.

This marks the fifth arrest to date in connection with this investigation and gardai say the probe is ongoing and further updates will follow.
