Man arrested for duping people posing as policeman

Ramgopalpet police on Tuesday arrested one Marathi Srujan Kumar of Station Ghanpur in Jangaon district for reportedly impersonating as a police officer.

In February, he had approached a couple sitting in their car near Necklace Road and threatened them with consequences. He identified himself as a task force officer and questioned them about their sitting there and said that it was an offence and a case would be made against them. He even showed them a police identity card, and later took them to a watch store near Banjara Hills and got them to pay for a watch worth ₹ 5,800, the police said.

Police nabbed him and recovered several items including expensive phones, gadgets and the police identity card among other things.

Later it was also found that Mahankali police station was holding a non-bailable warrant againt Srujan Kumar alias Charan.
